Next Saturday April 18, between 11am and 1:30pm come to the Picnic Pavilion de Granville Island to celebrate St. Georges Day, patron Saint of Catalonia, International Book Day and a good excuse to meet together!
Activities:
- Potato Omelette contest: price for the best omelette!. The Casal will bring soft drinks and ‘pa amb tomaquet’ (yes, food is important for any Catalan celebration)
- Book exchange: bring a book, take a book. Catalan books of course!
- Drawing contest for kids under 12y old. Free subject. Send your drawing to the Casal (vancouver [@] casalcatala.ca) so we can find who is the artist of the day!
And, of course, roses:
St. Georges’ day is, among Catalans, the equivalent to St. Valentine’s day for Canadians. And lovers exchange roses and books as tokens of their love. So, the Casal will offer roses (red, obviously, the colour of passion). We suggest a donation of $5 if you are a member of the Casal or $10 if you are not (yet!).
We are looking forward to a beautiful spring day, but worry not, if it rains the Pavilion is under shelter!
